The Issues

I support fiscal responsibility within our government. I believe we can make our system better rather than larger by keeping taxes at a minimum and controlling spending.

Education: With 34 years as a respected teacher and coach, I am for maintaining the momentum for K-12 funding and the proposal that 70% be spent in the classrooms. I will emphasize science and math along with reading, writing, and the importance of government. Our children will need these skills and more to complete in the global economy.

I am for the reduction of health care costs and maintaining excellence. Because Rochester is home to medical miracles every day, I believe is vital we preserve the best of our health care system. Let's seek to ensure affordable prescription drugs and empower consumers with access to information on cost and quality. I firmly believe in the promotion of wellness and minimizing governmental interference with the practice of medicine.

Economic Development and Jobs: I'll be a tireless advocate for the University of Minnesota - Rochester as well as the Mayo/U of MN genomics/bioscience initiative. I believe Rochester's ingenuity is invaluable for the growth of jobs and the development of an entrepreneurial climate in which small businesses can prosper.

I support transportation funding for the improvement of our deteriorating roads and bridges, including dedicating 100% of the Motor Vehicle Excise Tax to the Highway User Tax Distribution Fund.

Thousands of Veterans will return to Minnesota in the next month, many more will return by year's end and as many as 25 percent will have trauma issues, either physical or mental. As a Vietnam Vet, I understand how important adjustment to civilian life, access to jobs and the means to make a living is to our returning veterans. Join me in supporting them, as they return home.

I am pro life. I support the sanctity of human life and understand the central role of families in our society.

I am the strong clear voice of the people in Rochester and am passionate about government. I am an experienced leader who is determined to make a difference for Rochester.
